The First Presbyterian Church was established in 1844 in Crown Point, Indiana. The First worship services were held in an old, log building that housed the Lake County government, located on what is now the Courthouse square. In 1848, a new church was constricted on a donated parcel of land just south of the town square. Through the years, and in several different buildings on the same site, people of faith have gathered at the FPC to worship, learn, grow in faith and reach out in service in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our new building was completed in November, 2000. The new building adjoins the Christian Education building, which was built in 1962. Almost every day of the week , activities for children, youth, and adults take place within our walls.
At it's core, however, our church is not a building of brick and steel, but a community of people who gather to experience and share the grace and love of God in Jesus Christ. It is our hope that you will feel welcome here and consider God's call become part of our family of faith.
How Do I Become Part of the First Presbyterian Church ?
All are welcome to participate in the life of the Church, whether in worship, special events or fellowship activities. If you feel that you would like to make this your church home, we invite you to consider joining the First Presbyterian Church as an active member. Throughout the year we offer New Member Classes, where one can learn more about our congregation, the Presbyterian Church (USA), and what it means to become an active member of our family of faith.
